Electrical Estimating you can bid with confidence

Electrical estimating is a counting job that never forgives a missed page. One overlooked panel schedule, a feeder run measured short or a lighting fixture type left off the schedule can wipe out the margin on a bid. Our electrical estimators count every device, fixture and run on your drawings and turn them into a complete, priced Excel estimate you can trust on bid day.

We support electrical contractors, design-build electrical firms and general contractors who need an independent electrical number. Send us the electrical drawings, lighting and panel schedules, one-line diagram and specifications, and we return quantities, material and labor pricing by CSI Division 26 section, with marked-up plans showing every count and every measured run.

Our estimates separate gear, feeders, branch power, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, low voltage and temporary power so you can see where the money is, assign scopes to your own crews or subcontractors and compare your number with the rest of the bid list.

Scope

Electrical scope we estimate

Power distribution

Utility service, CT cabinets, switchgear, switchboards, distribution panels, branch panelboards, transformers and disconnects are listed from the one-line diagram and panel schedules, with sizes, ratings and quantities matched to the specifications.

Feeders and branch wiring

Feeders are measured run by run from the source to the load, with conduit type and size, conductor size and count, and vertical drops added. Branch circuits are taken off from the floor plans using home-run counts, circuit lengths and the wiring method required by the specifications.

Lighting and controls

Every fixture is counted by type from the lighting schedule and plans, including exit and emergency lighting. Occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, dimmers, lighting control panels and relays are counted separately so controls scope is never missed.

Devices and equipment connections

Receptacles, switches, data and floor boxes, and connections to mechanical, plumbing and kitchen equipment are counted from the plans and equipment schedules, with disconnects and whips included.

Site and specialty systems

Site lighting poles and bases, underground duct banks, EV charging stations, generators, transfer switches, solar-ready provisions and lightning protection are priced where shown.

Low voltage and fire alarm

Low voltage pathways, cable tray, data rough-in, security and fire alarm devices can be included in the electrical estimate or broken out as separate scopes, depending on how you bid the work.

How we build an electrical estimate

We begin with the one-line diagram, panel schedules and specifications to understand the distribution system, then move to the power, lighting and systems plans. Architectural and mechanical drawings are reviewed for equipment that needs power, ceiling types that affect fixture installation and wall types that affect box and conduit work.

Counts and lengths are taken in PlanSwift and Bluebeam with each system on its own layer and colour. Feeder lengths include vertical rises and allowances for routing, and branch circuitry follows the wiring method in the specifications, whether that is EMT and wire, MC cable or a combination.

Labor is applied using established electrical labor units adjusted for building type, mounting height, the work environment and the project location. Material prices reflect current copper and gear pricing for the region, and the summary breaks out material, labor, gear quotes, subcontracts, overhead and profit so you can adjust anything before you submit.

Our process

How to order a Electrical estimate

  1. Send your plans

Email PDF drawings and specs, or share a Dropbox, Google Drive or bid-portal link. Bid sets, construction documents and conceptual drawings all work.

  2. Get your quote

We review the set and reply with a price, turnaround time and delivery date for your scope. You approve before any work starts.

  3. NDA and 50% deposit

We sign an NDA so your plans stay private. Work starts on a 50% deposit by card through our secure online checkout. A W-9 is available on request.

  4. Receive your estimate

You get quantities and pricing in Excel, organized by CSI division, plus marked-up plans. The remaining 50% is due on delivery.

FAQ

Electrical Estimating: common questions

Can't find your answer? Call (850) 343-4090 or email info@premiumestimatings.com.

Do you count every fixture and device?

Yes. Every fixture, receptacle, switch, sensor and box is counted from the plans and schedules and shown on the marked-up drawings so you can verify any count.

Can you price gear with my supplier quotes?

Yes. We list all gear from the one-line and panel schedules with budget pricing, and you can replace those lines with your supplier quotes when they come in.

Do you design electrical systems or do load calculations?

No. We estimate from the engineered electrical drawings. We do not design systems, size services or produce load calculations.

Do you price MC cable or conduit and wire?

Whichever the specifications allow and you prefer to install. We can price an alternate when MC cable is permitted for branch circuits.

What does an electrical estimate cost?

Single-trade estimates start from $150. The price depends on the building size and number of sheets and is confirmed in your quote before work starts.

Can you split the estimate by phase or building?

Yes. We can break quantities out by building, floor, phase or area so you can schedule crews and bid alternates.
